About AJ Richman

As a member of the Georgia Bar and a 2013, 2014 & 2015 Avvo Clients’ Choice award winner for criminal defense, AJ Richman has handled thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases including child molestation, rape, domestic violence, DUI, BUI, underage drinking, drugs, and probation violations. Attorney Richman's excellence as a Cumming criminal defense lawyer has gained him recognition as a Legal Elite Attorney for Criminal Law in Georgia Trend Magazine for 2014 & 2015, an accomplishment awarded to those who practice the highest level of legal excellence and are highly respected by their peers. Mr. Richman’s high courtroom success is attributed to his in-depth knowledge of the law and exhaustive approach to investigating cases. Respected by judges and opposing counsel both in and out of the courtroom, Mr. Richman’s main goal is to make his clients happy.

Prior to representing those individuals charged with committing a crime, Mr. Richman was a felony prosecutor in Lumpkin County and White County, and senior misdemeanor prosecutor in Forsyth County. With grant funding provided by the federal government, while working in Lumpkin and White counties Mr. Richman was tasked with prosecuting crimes involving domestic violence, as well as crimes concerning child physical and sexual abuse.

Mr. Richman holds a certification in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and DUI detection from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and has also received extensive training on breathalyzer machines including the Preliminary Breath Test and the Intoxilyzer 5000 and 9000, which are used in Georgia’s DUI arrests. Due to Mr. Richman’s expertise with DUI law, he has been asked by both Forsyth County and Lumpkin County law enforcement to teach proper DUI detection protocol and courtroom testimony to Forsyth and Lumpkin County police officers.

Mr. Richman is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Law where he received his law degree, with honors. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Florida State University and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Mr. Richman is licensed to practice in all Magistrate, Probate, Municipal, State, and Superior courts of Georgia. Additionally, Mr. Richman has been given the distinguished honor to represent his clients in the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Mr. Richman understands that hiring an attorney is an important decision, and believes that if a client is willing to invest in him, he needs to invest in the client. To that point, Mr. Richman goes above and beyond to be available for his clients, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He strives to work around your schedule and your needs, and provides all of his clients with his personal cell phone number and email address so they can always reach him at their convenience.
